Sequence of events
A car moved into the left lane at high speed to overtake another car. When moving back into the right lane, the car aquaplaned causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle skidded sideways across the hard shoulder and verge, where its left side collided with a tree. The car then upended and wrapped itself around the tree. Finally, the car came to a standstill next to the tree.

The front passenger and the two children on the rear seat suffered fatal injuries; the driver was seriously injured.

Excessive speed and aquaplaning.
